Our two bedroomed semi-detached bungalow is in Flamingo Hills, a residential area about four kilometres south of Torrevieja. It consists of a large lounge with adjoining fitted kitchen, a bedroom with a double bed and a second bedroom with twin beds, and a bathroom. There is a double sofa bed in the lounge and a child's cot is also available. In the kitchen there is an oven/hob, fridge, washing machine, iron and ironing-board. Outside, at ground level, is an enclosed patio with stairs leading to the roof terrace, with sunbeds and chairs, which covers the whole house. There is a small front garden and off-road parking. The comminity pool is 50 metres away. There are shops, bars and restaurants within walking distance, and three large supermarkets and many other shops and restaurants about a kilometre away. The nearest beaches are about three kilometres away.
Torrevieja is a bustling town with many shops, a long promenade, beaches, parks, museums and an international marina. There is also a huge weekly street market.
The area to the south of Torrevieja is a golfer's paradise, with three excellent courses at Villamartín, Campoamor and Las Ramblas. Ten kilometres further south is the unique inland sea of Mar Menor, almost completely enclosed and no more than six metres deep. The saltpans of Mar Menor are a haven for birds, especially flamingoes.
Further afield, but within easy driving distance are Elche, internationally renowned for its palm forest; Orihuela, with its fine Old Quarter; Alicante, with marvellous views from its dominating castle; and Murcia, with one of Spain's finest cathedrals.
